WEST PITTSTON — The skies finally cleared, and so did the Warriors’ path to the semis.

After days of weather delays and field rescheduling chaos, Wyoming Area finally returned to action—and made the wait worth it. With a shutout performance on the mound and just enough juice at the plate, the Warriors edged past Honesdale, 2-0, in the District 2 Class 4A quarterfinals.

The win earns Wyoming Area a spot in the semifinals against Crestwood, while Mid Valley—who’s had the bracket roll in their favor with home-field consistency and no delays—awaits the winner in the district title game.

Alex Vacula was nails for the Warriors, going 6.2 innings of scoreless baseball. The senior scattered seven hits, walked just one, and pitched his way out of multiple tight spots. When Honesdale started to knock, Jacob Snyder slammed the door, recording the final out with authority to earn the win in relief.

Offensively, it was a manufacturing kind of day. Wyoming Area pushed across one in the third and tacked on a second run later, making the most of limited chances. Chase Spiecher drove in the lone RBI, while Robbie Yatsko, Ben Rogish, and Snyder each tallied hits in the grinder.

Defensively, the Warriors were flawless—literally. Zero errors, one timely double play, and Spiecher flashing leather in a team-high eight defensive chances.

Honesdale’s Jared Ahern was a warrior in his own right, throwing six innings of three-hit ball with four Ks and no walks. He also led the Hornets at the plate, going 2-for-3. But the offense just couldn’t crack the Warrior wall when it mattered most.

With the win, Wyoming Area shakes off the rain rust and storms into the semis—finally caught up and back in rhythm, just in time for a shot at the district final.
