Lake-Lehman, PA – January 7, 2025

The Wyoming Area Warriors powered past the Lake-Lehman Black Knights with a decisive 59-45 win in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 matchup on Tuesday night. A dominant second quarter effort, where the Warriors outscored their hosts by 12 points, proved pivotal in securing the victory.

The game started evenly matched, with both teams scoring 14 points in the opening quarter. Wyoming Area relied on consistent ball movement and perimeter shooting, while Lake-Lehman kept pace with balanced scoring from multiple contributors.

However, the second quarter saw the Warriors’ defense tighten, limiting the Black Knights to just six points while Wyoming Area poured in 16. This critical stretch helped the visitors establish a comfortable halftime lead.

Star guard Luke Kopetchny led the charge for Wyoming Area, delivering a spectacular performance with a game-high 24 points. Kopetchny was especially dominant in the third quarter, where he tallied 11 points, helping Wyoming Area further extend their lead. His all-around play included accurate shooting, solid free throw accuracy, and leadership on the court.

Contributing to the Warriors’ offensive success was Lukas Burakiewicz, who added 15 points, including three crucial three-pointers. Drew Keating chipped in with seven points, while Anthony DeLucca added six. John Turner and Jacob Morgan combined for another seven points, with Morgan hitting a three-pointer.

Lake-Lehman, despite the loss, had moments of resilience. Senior Ben Dowling was the Black Knights’ top scorer, finishing with 11 points.
