Wilkes-Barre Area secured the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 regular season championship with a 73-62 victory over Dallas at Wyoming Area High School.
The win also earned the Wolfpack the top seed for the upcoming conference tournament. Mike Keating and David Jannuzzi were instrumental in the game, with Jannuzzi scoring 29 points, including the 1,000th of his career. Jacob Johnson contributed 12 points, all in the second half, making several key shots in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
Wilkes-Barre Area led by nine at halftime, benefiting from Dallas’ shooting struggles, particularly from beyond the arc. Although Dallas mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter with effective defensive pressure, cutting the deficit to four points, Johnson’s clutch 3-pointers and strong free-throw shooting from the Wolfpack in the final minutes secured the victory.
Jude Nocito led Dallas with 22 points, followed by Pat Flanagan with 16 and Joey Nocito with 11. The loss leaves Dallas as the No. 2 seed from Division 1 heading into the tournament.
