The Wilkes-Barre Area Wolfpack kept their momentum rolling Wednesday night with a dominant straight-set victory — 25-17, 25-22, 25-20 — over the Lackawanna Trail Lions, improving their season record to an impressive 6-1. The match was highlighted by a historic performance from senior standout Jordany Rodriguez, who not only led the team with 21 points but also secured his 500th career kill, etching his name into the program’s history books.

Rodriguez was an unstoppable force at the net, with 20 of his 21 points coming from powerful spikes and precise tips. He overwhelmed the Lions’ front line and energized his squad from the very first set. His athleticism and accuracy provided a spark that fueled the Wolfpack throughout the match.

While Rodriguez took center stage, he wasn’t the only Wolfpack star to make an impact. Nick Delescavage delivered a well-rounded performance, contributing 18 total points — including 13 from the service line — that kept the Lions off balance. Matching Rodriguez with 10 digs, Delescavage’s defensive hustle and sharp serving were key to maintaining Wilkes-Barre Area’s control.

Rylie Ramirez added another layer of consistency to the Wolfpack’s offense, contributing 17 points — 8 of which came from the service line — applying constant pressure and capitalizing on Lackawanna Trail’s serve receive.

The first set saw Wilkes-Barre dominate from the outset, but the second set brought adversity. The Wolfpack found themselves trailing midway through as Lackawanna Trail rallied with renewed energy. The challenge intensified when Wilkes-Barre lost assist leader TJ Njai to a knee injury, briefly disrupting the team’s offensive rhythm.

Despite the setback, the Wolfpack responded with resilience. Fueled by a renewed focus and grit, they clawed their way back to take the second set 25-22, halting the Lions’ surge and reclaiming momentum.

Stepping up in a critical moment, Joseph Rea filled the void left by Njai with poise and precision. In his time on the court, Rea tallied 5 points, 13 assists, and 8 digs — showcasing his composure under pressure and helping steady the Wolfpack’s attack heading into the final set.

With the match on the line, Wilkes-Barre executed when it mattered most. Behind Rea’s efficient ball distribution and continued offensive firepower from Rodriguez and Delescavage, the Wolfpack closed out the third set 25-20, sealing the sweep and continuing their dominant season.

With talent, depth, and resilience on full display, the Wilkes-Barre Area Wolfpack sent a clear message: they’re not just winning — they’re building a championship mindset.
