A five-run third inning proved to be the difference on Monday as the Williamsport Millionaires held off a late push from Shikellamy to earn a 7-4 victory in high school softball action.

Williamsport came alive in the third, stringing together timely hits and aggressive base running to take firm control of the game early. The Millionaires tacked on one run apiece in the fifth and sixth innings, building a 7-0 lead heading into the final frames.

Shikellamy didn’t go down quietly. After being held scoreless through five innings, the Braves found their rhythm in the top of the sixth. Sparked by hits from Natalie Keller and Aveya Stauffer, Shikellamy put up four runs in the inning. Keller drove in two runs, while Stauffer added an RBI of her own, but the rally came just short of closing the gap.

Despite the late surge, Williamsport’s early offensive burst proved insurmountable. The Millionaires finished the game with six hits and committed one error, while the Braves tallied five hits but were hurt by two defensive miscues.

Shikellamy’s offense was paced by hits from Keller, Stauffer, Cam Sinko, Haylie Oakes, and Lexi Wiest. The team showed resilience in the final innings, but the slow start ultimately sealed their fate.

With the win, Williamsport improves their season standing, while Shikellamy looks to bounce back in their next matchup.
