Wilkes-Barre Tops Scranton in Roundball Classic Championship

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Wilkes-Barre capped off an impressive weekend at the 2025 Keystone State Games with a 66–47 victory over Scranton in the Roundball Classic boys’ basketball championship game.


Wilkes-Barre jumped out to a strong first-half lead, going 17-of-34 from the field, including 4-of-9 from three, to take a 43–28 advantage at the break. Scranton kept pace early, shooting 12-of-23 in the opening half and 4-of-12 from beyond the arc, but went just 0-of-1 at the free throw line.


In the second half, both teams cooled down offensively. Wilkes-Barre went 8-of-35 from the floor and 1-of-6 from three, while Scranton shot 6-of-24 and 3-of-8 from three-point range. From the line, both teams were efficient — Wilkes-Barre went 4-of-5, and Scranton was a perfect 4-of-4.


Wilkes-Barre outscored Scranton 23–19 in the second half and maintained control throughout, finishing the game with a 19-point margin to secure the championship.


The Roundball Classic is part of the annual Keystone State Games Festival of Sports and featured competitive matchups among teams across northeast Pennsylvania. Wilkes-Barre completed the event undefeated, finishing pool play with the top point differential and a 2–0 record entering the final day.
