In a Saturday showdown that saw surges of offense and a gritty comeback attempt, Western Wayne held off Wyoming Area 6-3 to claim a hard-fought road victory.

The Wildcats used a four-run third inning to break things open, then added two more in the fourth to build a 6-0 lead. Wyoming Area clawed back into it with one run in the fourth and two in the sixth, but Western Wayne’s bullpen closed the door in the seventh.

Damion Glackin led the charge for Western Wayne with a 2-run single in the third and later pitched a clean seventh inning to notch the save. Ethan Lamberton stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Vinny Baldini and Alex Decandis also chipped in key hits for the Wildcats.

On the mound, starter J. McCollum earned the win with 5.1 innings of work, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out four. Benedict and Glackin combined for the final five outs, preserving the win.

For the Warriors, Bruno Pizzano delivered a two-run single in the sixth that gave the home crowd hope. Cody Meade also added a hit and scored a run. Despite the late push, Wyoming Area couldn’t complete the rally.

Alex Vacula started for the Warriors and struck out four over four innings but was tagged for six runs (two earned). Kristian Pugliese was effective in relief, tossing three scoreless innings and allowing just two hits.

With the win, Western Wayne moves to 6-5 on the season. Wyoming Area falls to 5-7 and will look to bounce back in their next matchup.
