SCRANTON, Pa. — Scranton just dropped in.

As of Friday, October 17, 2025, the Weston Field Skatepark is officially open—and riders wasted no time making it their home. Located at 982 Providence Road, this new concrete build is already drawing wheels, cameras, and creatives to the city's latest hub for movement, expression, and connection.

Backed by the City of Scranton and Mayor Paige Cognetti, the park features a clean, concrete street-style layout: quarter pipes, banks, rails, ledges, and wedges, all professionally built for skateboarders, scooter riders, BMXers, and inline skaters of all styles and experience levels. It’s not just a park, it’s an outlet. A much-needed space where the city’s alternative athletes and creatives can finally breathe and build.

A Scene Already in Motion

No soft launch needed - Saturday morning saw early risers testing the fresh concrete. Within an hour, dozens had joined in, carving lines, filming clips, and building a culture that’s been waiting for a home. The vibe was instant. This space didn’t need to prove itself, it just needed to exist.

And now it does.

Weston Field Skatepark is already serving as a go-to space for not only athletes on wheels, but also storytellers behind lenses and creatives capturing the energy from every angle. From content creators to cruisers, this park gives everyone a reason to show up.

Not Just a Park, It's A Culture Shift

Like Wilkes-Barre’s successful Hollenback Skatepark, Weston Field brings with it more than just ledges and rails, it brings belonging. This is for the kids who didn’t have a field to play on or a jersey to wear. It’s for those who build confidence through repetition, through risk, through community. It’s for the ones often labeled “lost” or “trouble” & now given space to be seen, to grow, and to thrive.

Upcoming Events at Weston Field Skatepark

📍Tuesday, October 28 – Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Join city leaders, families, and riders as the park is formally opened. Come early, bring your board or bike, and be part of the moment.

📍Saturday, November 1 – Jam Fest

Scranton’s first Jam Fest will light up Weston Field with an all-day, open-style skate session. No pressure. No prizes. Just community, creativity, and the raw energy of riders showing out.

The Bigger Picture

With the Weston Field community pool also in the works, this section of Scranton is transforming into a revitalized space where all types of athletes and artists can coexist. It’s a rare blend of splash, grind and friendship. And it’s only just beginning.
