Another week under the Friday night lights, another slate of unforgettable performances across District 2. Week 6 delivered everything — explosive runs, ice-cold finishes, statement wins, sideline swag, and even a community festival atmosphere. SportzWire’s weekly features, backed by our proud local sponsors, once again captured the moments that defined the week.

Electric Performance of the Week

Presented by Envy Electrical LLC – Do it right, not twice!

Honesdale running back Gabe Duda wasn’t about to let history repeat itself. With the Hornets looking to end a 10-year Shrine Bowl drought, Duda carried the load — literally. He finished with 23 carries for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns, powering Honesdale to a dominant 36-0 win over Western Wayne.

When the Hornets needed a spark, Duda lit up the field and reminded everyone why Friday nights are electric.

Cold As Ice Player of the Week

For Brayden Cleaver, age was just a number. The freshman quarterback for Berwick walked into a showdown with undefeated Wyoming Area and played like a seasoned veteran. Cleaver ripped off a 51-yard touchdown run to open the game, added another score from 13 yards out, and helped pace the Bulldogs to a 35-13 statement victory.

With 84 rushing yards, 31 passing yards, and two scores on the ground, Cleaver proved he already has ice in his veins. The Dawgs remain unbeaten, and the future looks even brighter.

House Call of the Week

Built strong by Green Rhino Builders

Big-time players make big-time plays, and Gabe Davis of Valley View delivered both early and late. Against Scranton, Davis hauled in a 51-yard strike in the first quarter to set the tone and later sealed the win with a 48-yard dagger in the fourth.

Two house calls, two statement plays, and a Cougar victory.

Portfolio Player of the Week

Presented by Krupa Wealth Management

On WarriorFest weekend, Delaware Valley’s Mike Iuzzolino delivered a portfolio packed with returns. He rushed 23 times for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns, added 6 tackles on defense, blocked a punt, and returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown.

Oh, and he was also crowned Homecoming King.

That’s balance across every phase of the game, and that’s why Iuzzolino takes home the Week 6 honor.

Pile Driver of the Week

Presented by Junken Monkeys Hauling Company – You Point, We Remove!

The North Pocono offensive line controlled every inch of the trenches in a 35-14 win over Dallas. The Trojans piled up 430 total yards, including 261 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground, while also protecting for 169 passing yards and a score through the air.

It was a complete performance from a unit that dictated the tempo from start to finish.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Lake-Lehman Black Knights — 370 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns in a 42-0 rout of Nanticoke.
  • Holy Cross Crusaders — 487 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns, after earning the Week 5 Pile Driver honor.

Halftime Highlight of the Week

Presented by DJ Pat Sweeney

This week’s Halftime Highlight belonged to the Delaware Valley Warriors, who turned Warrior Fest into a full community celebration. Spirit Week culminated with the historic Black & Blue Jug game against Abington Heights, while Warrior alumni were honored in a Hall of Fame ceremony and homecoming festivities filled the stands.

The day also included a $5,000 check presentation from T-Mobile and DV’s first-ever gameday broadcast show — an event modeled after College Gameday.

The heartbeat of it all? The band, color guard, and cheer squad, who kept the energy sky-high from start to finish. Props to DV’s journalism team, Ms. Lordi, and student photographer Keira Lemay for helping bring the showcase to life.

Drip of the Week

Presented by The DRIPBaR Scranton

Holy Redeemer’s Lucas Shrader proved that when you look good, you play good. Sporting a Schutt F7 helmet, Kobe “Grinch” cleats, turf tape, and a clean arm sleeve, Shrader backed up the drip with an 86-yard interception return for a touchdown and a receiving score in a 44-38 shootout against Holy Cross.

Shrader’s performance was proof that style and production can go hand-in-hand.

Closing Thoughts

Week 6 showed the full range of NEPA football — from Shrine Bowl redemption to freshman heroics, clutch deep-ball connections, and offensive line dominance. Delaware Valley’s Warrior Fest reminded everyone that school spirit and community pride remain at the heart of Friday nights.
