Wyoming Area overcomes early 15-0 hole with dominant second-half performance to close regular season 9-1.

Wyoming Area erased a 15-0 first-quarter deficit on Friday night and stormed back to defeat rival Pittston Area 41-22 in the annual “Battle of the Bridge.” Pittston came out firing behind explosive plays, including a long touchdown run from Lucas LoPresto, but Wyoming Area steadied themselves and methodically took control as the game wore on.

Led by senior running back Nick Ciampi’s 228 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, the Warriors leaned on their offensive line to pound out more than 340 rushing yards while their defense adjusted to shut Pittston down after halftime. Quarterback Jack Gravine added a pair of rushing scores and a short touchdown pass to Luke Kopetchny as Wyoming Area reeled off 35 unanswered points to seal the comeback win.

The victory capped a 9-1 regular season for the Warriors and snapped Pittston’s seven-game winning streak, dropping the Patriots to 8-2. Wyoming Area’s combination of physicality, discipline, and second-half execution proved the difference in a rivalry matchup that showcased two of District 2’s top football programs.
