Valley View put together a complete effort Friday night, rolling to a 49-8 victory over Honesdale at Hornet Stadium. The Cougars wasted no time setting the tone, striking for three touchdowns in the first quarter and never looking back.

Sophomore running back Tyler Muchal got things started with an 11-yard touchdown run. Moments later, Tristan Smith broke free for a 14-yard score, and quarterback Caleb Brown connected with senior Gabe Davis on a 21-yard strike to make it 21-0.

In the second quarter, Jeffrey Wasilchak powered in from eight yards out before Honesdale answered with its lone score, a 21-yard touchdown run by Gabe Duda. That would be the only highlight for the Hornets as Valley View’s defense clamped down the rest of the way.

The Cougars continued to control the game after halftime. Brady Bachman scored from a yard out, Wasilchak exploded for a 52-yard touchdown run, and Maddox Carey added a 1-yard plunge to push the lead to 49-8 late in the third.

Special teams also played a key role. Sophomore kicker Braden Loff was perfect on the night, going 7-for-7 on extra points and driving 7 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks. His work consistently forced Honesdale to start deep in its own territory, helping Valley View dominate field position .
