Valley View Pulls Away Early, Tops Pittston Area 60 to 40

Valley View Varsity Boys Basketball turned in a complete performance Monday night in Archbald, pulling away for a 60 to 40 win over Pittston Area and controlling the game from start to finish.

Valley View set the tone early, opening a 20 to 11 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to 35 to 17 by halftime. The Cougars continued to manage the tempo in the second half, matching Pittston Area point for point and closing out the game with steady offense and disciplined defense.

Cash Roe led all scorers with a game high 18 points for Valley View, finishing with 9 field goals. Michael Muto and Jagger Roe each added 14 points. Muto provided the outside spark, knocking down both of Valley View’s three pointers and going a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Jagger Roe scored his 14 on 6 field goals and added two free throws. Noah Symuleski contributed 8 points, while Colin Witkowski chipped in 6 to round out the scoring for the Cougars.

As a team, Valley View finished with 26 made field goals, 2 three pointers, and went a perfect 6 for 6 from the foul line for 60 total points.

For Pittston Area, Stephen Barnic and Jacob Ivey led the Patriots with 9 points apiece. Barnic connected on three shots from beyond the arc, while Ivey added a pair of three pointers as part of his scoring effort. Patrick Burns finished with 5 points, Brennan Callahan added 5, Lucas Lopresto and John Jadus each scored 4, and Santino Capitano rounded out the scoring with contributions in the rotation.

Pittston Area finished the night with 15 made field goals, 5 three pointers, and went 5 for 5 from the free throw line for 40 total points.

Valley View’s balanced scoring, efficient shooting, and ability to build separation early proved to be the difference as the Cougars protected their home floor and continued to build momentum early in the season.
