Valley View’s defense set the tone from the opening series and the Cougars never let go. After a scoreless first quarter, sophomore quarterback Caleb Brown found senior Gabe Davis streaking down the numbers for a 51 yard touchdown. Sophomore kicker Braden Loff drilled the point after to make it 7 to 0 and Valley View carried that edge into halftime.
The Cougars broke the game open with a dominant third quarter. Sophomore running back Tyler Muchal bounced a 17 yard touchdown run to cap a balanced march and Loff added the extra point. Minutes later the defense cashed in again when senior Aidan Muchal scooped a loose ball and sprinted 34 yards to the house. Loff’s third extra point made it 21 to 0 late in the third.
Davis and Brown connected once more early in the fourth, this time on a 48 yard strike that Davis secured in stride for his second score of the night. Loff stayed perfect on the point after to close the scoring.
Valley View’s offense was efficient and opportunistic with five completions for 112 yards through the air and 157 yards on the ground. The defense matched that efficiency with two interceptions and constant pressure that limited Scranton’s chunk gains. Special teams were clean as Loff finished four for four on extra points and consistently flipped field position with deep kickoffs.
