Valley View took care of business Thursday afternoon at Wilkes Softball Stadium, riding a hot bat from Kalli Karwowski and a complete-game effort from Taylor Cawley to down North Schuylkill 6-2 and move on in the state bracket.

Karwowski was electric at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three singles and two runs scored while also swiping a pair of bags. Her leadoff presence set the tone early, and the Cougars followed suit with 12 total hits on the day.

Abbi Call matched Karwowski’s output with a 3-for-4 performance of her own, driving in two runs—including a key RBI single in the third to break a 1-1 tie. Taylor Cawley also added a pair of RBIs and helped her own cause in the circle, keeping North Schuylkill off balance over seven innings. Cawley scattered six hits, struck out seven, and walked just two on 109 pitches.

One of the game’s biggest moments came in the outfield. With North Schuylkill threatening a comeback and the bases loaded, center fielder Zoie Moyles raced deep into the gap to haul in a would-be extra-base hit, saving at least two runs. The grab shifted the game’s momentum and earned her the SportzWire Play of the Game.

Ashlyn Palickar added a spark with a triple, part of Valley View’s five extra-base hits, and Z Krupovich chipped in a double and a stolen base. The Cougars were flawless defensively, not committing a single error, and catcher Maggie Hallett led the defense with seven putouts.

North Schuylkill got multi-hit efforts from Jordanna Frie and Olivia Jones. Jones drove in a run in the second to tie the game, and Maria Monahan added an RBI of her own, but the Spartans couldn’t string together enough offense against the steady arm of Cawley.

Brigid Flynn took the loss for North Schuylkill, throwing 117 pitches over seven innings and giving up six runs (five earned) on 12 hits. Despite the tough result, Flynn doubled and struck out five in her outing.

Valley View left eight runners on base but made their hits count, especially during the middle innings when they built a cushion that held through the final frame.
