Leah Traver put on a show at the plate, launching two home runs and driving in three runs as Elk Lake rolled past Susquehanna, 12-0, in a five-inning mercy-rule victory on Monday.

Traver opened the scoring with a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the first. The senior shortstop struck again in the second inning with a two-run homer to center as part of a massive seven-run frame for the Lady Warriors.

Elk Lake’s second-inning surge also featured a two-RBI double from Marissa Horn, an RBI double by Aleece Greenly, and an RBI double from Maddy Ely. A defensive error added another run to stretch the lead to 8-0.

In the third, the Lady Warriors tacked on four more runs. Horn capped off her strong day at the plate with a two-run home run to left, while Ely added an RBI single and an error brought home another.

Horn was dominant in the circle as well, tossing a one-hit shutout over five innings. She struck out eight and walked one, earning the win without allowing a run. At the plate, she went 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Elk Lake tallied 13 hits in total. Traver finished with three RBIs on her two homers, while Greenly, Lydia Howell, and Ely each recorded multiple hits. The Lady Warriors also turned a double play on defense.

Lauren Huyck took the loss for Susquehanna, allowing 12 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits over four innings.

Huyck also had the lone hit for the Lady Sabers, going 1-for-2 at the plate.

With the win, Elk Lake continues its strong run in league play. They’ll look to keep the momentum going on Wednesday with a road matchup at Carbondale Area.
