ARCHBALD, PA — On an emotional Senior Night at John Henzes Veterans Memorial Stadium, Valley View capped its regular season with a balanced 20-7 victory over Wallenpaupack. The Cougars’ win not only honored their seniors but also secured a home playoff matchup against Dallas on Halloween night.

After a scoreless first quarter, sophomore Tyler Muchal gave Valley View the lead with a 3-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter. Braden Loff knocked through the extra point to make it 7-0 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, Brady Bachman extended the lead with a hard-fought 2-yard touchdown, though the extra point was blocked. The offensive line — anchored by seniors Jack KondratNiiko HazeltonApollo KazmierskiJake Rutkowski, and Kyle Guerin — controlled the trenches throughout, paving the way for 285 rushing yards on 41 carries.

Junior Tristan Smith broke through for a 5-yard score early in the fourth quarter, and Loff’s second PAT pushed the lead to 20-0. Wallenpaupack avoided the shutout late in the game when Ed Kiesendahl hauled in a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jake Rafferty, followed by Chris Doty’s successful extra point.

Defensively, Valley View’s front line held the Buckhorns to 57 rushing yards and 86 through the air. Jeffery Wasilchakand Aidan Muchal led the team in tackles, while Gavin Oprishko sealed the win with a fourth-quarter interception.

For Wallenpaupack, Kiesendahl accounted for most of the team’s offense, recording 31 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards. Rafferty threw for 86 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted once.

With the win, Valley View carries momentum into the postseason. The Cougars will host the Dallas Mountaineers at John Henzes Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday, October 31, in what promises to be a marquee playoff matchup.
