Susquehanna’s William Marcy Receives Prestigious Burlsworth Character Award

Susquehanna Sabers standout William Marcy has been honored with the Brandon Burlsworth Character Award, recognizing not only his unwavering leadership and integrity but also his excellence on the football field.

Presented by the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation, this national award is given to high school football players who exemplify outstanding character, sportsmanship, and determination — much like Burlsworth himself, who rose from walk-on to All-American at Arkansas before being drafted by the NFL.

Marcy was not just a locker room leader — he was a force on the gridiron. The versatile two-way player and team captain consistently set the tone for the Sabers with his play and presence. His high-motor, toughness, and intelligence made him one of the most respected players in District 2.

As a recipient of this award, Marcy joins a select group of athletes who lead with more than talent — they lead with purpose, grit, and humility.
