Shane Leh – Senior QB, Northwestern Lehigh High School
Northwestern Lehigh’s football program has produced many talented athletes over the years, but few have electrified Friday nights quite like senior quarterback Shane Leh, this week’s Sportzwire Wired Athlete of the Week, proudly sponsored by Envy Electrical.
Shane is the definition of a multi-sport, multi-talented competitor. A standout in both football and track & field, Shane’s heart has always belonged to the gridiron. When asked which sport he loves most, he didn’t hesitate:
“Football, definitely football!!”
Shane has been immersed in the sport since first grade, falling in love with football while watching games at home with his family. A die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he grew up admiring stars like Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, and Le’Veon Bell, athletes whose passion and skill fueled his own drive to excel.
Football runs deep in the Leh family. His father played at Muhlenberg College and Pen Argyl High School, and various other relatives also competed. His dad even coached him during his youth football days, an influence Shane still holds close.
“My family plays a pretty big role pushing me every day to be my best,” he said.
Shane has been Northwestern Lehigh’s starting quarterback since his sophomore season and also contributes on defense as a skilled cornerback. His impact on the field is undeniable:
Single-season passing yards record: 2,318 yards (previously 2,105 set by Deven Bollinger in 2019)
Tied the single-game passing TD record twice: 5 touchdowns
Single-season completion percentage record: 70% (previous high was his own 63%)
In-game completion percentage record: 89.5% vs. Scranton Prep (previously 85.7%)
Current season completion percentage: 70.83%, on pace to break his own record
Total touchdowns this season: 28 passing, 4 rushing
Only 2 interceptions all year
Shane’s consistency, poise, and accuracy have elevated Northwestern Lehigh’s offense to championship levels.
Shane’s most cherished memory came last season when Northwestern Lehigh captured the 3A State Championship, edging Avonworth 36–33 in overtime, a thrilling finish he’ll never forget.
His sophomore year also featured a milestone victory over traditional powerhouse Wyomissing in the program’s first semifinal win, propelling the Tigers to the state championship game.
Shane had an outstanding performance in the PIAA state quarterfinal game vs Scranton Prep this past weekend where he went 17 for 19 passing, 222 yards with 5 passings TDs and added another 26 yards on the ground in a 42-14 win.
Now, as a senior, he’s once again steering the team deep into postseason play. Northwestern Lehigh is set to face Trinity this Friday at Exeter Township in the 3A state semifinal, with Shane leading the charge toward another title run.
Beyond football, Shane shines every spring in track and field, competing in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and 4x100 relay. He placed second in the Colonial League in the 110 hurdles and enjoys the athletic diversity the sport brings:
“I like how you can showcase different parts of your athleticism.”
Shane doesn’t just excel on the field, he thrives in the classroom, too. He is a member of:
National Honor Society
Science National Honor Society
High Honors every year
In addition, he gives back through community service and media involvement. Shane helps with
Penn Sports Radio, partnering with Sportzwire and broadcasting games alongside Tony Sibilia. Together, they help cultivate the next generation of student journalists and sports professionals.
Shane’s leadership extends beyond his statistics. He is a motivator for his team and draws motivation from them as well:

Next year, Shane will take his talents to Marist University in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he will continue his football career at the collegiate level.
