Trey Keating, a multi-sport standout at Nativity BVM, has been dominating the court, the field, and the course in 2024-25, and he’s earning accolades and attention for his all-around athleticism. Basketball: A Force to Be Reckoned With
Keating’s performance on the basketball court has been nothing short of spectacular this season. Averaging 27.5 points per game (PPG), 8.0 rebounds per game (RPG), and 4.3 assists per game (APG), Keating has been the driving force behind Nativity BVM's success. He’s also showing impressive defensive prowess with 3.5 steals per game. His free throw percentage of 90% underscores his ability to remain composed and execute under pressure.
Keating’s standout performances include five double-doubles, and his career 200th 3-pointer is a testament to his scoring ability from beyond the arc. He also etched his name into the history books when he was named Max Preps Week 16 Athlete of the Week after scoring his 1000th career point. During that week, he averaged 32 points per game, and Nativity BVM went a perfect 3-0, with Keating leading the charge in each game.
Not just a current star, Keating has established a legacy in Pennsylvania high school basketball. He was the leading scorer in the Schuylkill League during his freshman and sophomore years, and in the 2023-24 season, he earned PIAA Class 2A All-State honors. He also took the title as the leading free throw shooter in the state that season.
Currently, Nativity BVM is on a roll, sitting at 11-1 in league play, and with one more win, they will secure the Division 2 title and a coveted bye in the Schuylkill League Championships. In a recent 74-42 victory over Williams Valley on January 28th, Keating poured in 33 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and hit his 200th career 3-pointer.

Keating is just as accomplished on the baseball diamond, where he plays 3rd base and outfield while also being the #4 hitter for the Nativity BVM team. His contributions were integral to the team’s victory in the 2024 District 11 Championship victory, and he continues to be a valuable asset in every aspect of the game. Whether it’s making defensive plays, providing consistent offense, or leading by example, Keating brings his best to the field.
Golf: A Rising Star on the Links
Keating’s athletic prowess extends beyond the court and field, as he is also a skilled golfer. In the 2024 season, he posted an impressive 13-2 record in duel matches, including a perfect 1-0 in the playoffs. His 79 average for the year was the 4th best in the Schuylkill League, and he finished tied for 8th best in District 11 for boys’ golf. One of his most remarkable achievements was setting a school record with a 69 against Panther Valley. Keating also played a pivotal role in leading Nativity BVM to their first-ever League and District Championship appearances, serving as the team’s captain.
Community Involvement: Giving Back to the Future
Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Keating is a dedicated community member who gives back in meaningful ways. He has worked at both boys' and girls' youth basketball camps at Nativity BVM, providing mentorship and coaching to younger players. Keating also assists in training elementary and middle school students to develop their basketball skills. His commitment to service extends to charitable work as well—he has worked on fundraisers for Saint Joseph’s Special Learning Center and has prepared and delivered care packages to the residents at the Orwigsburg Nursing Home.
