Friday nights under the lights are about more than touchdowns and tackles. They’re about the heartbeat of school spirit, the band striking up the fight song, the color guard painting the night with rhythm and motion, and the cheer squads igniting the crowd. This fall season, SportzWire is taking that energy and giving it the spotlight it deserves.

Introducing the Halftime Highlight, presented by DJ Pat Sweeney.

A New Angle on Friday Night Lights

SportzWire has always been about celebrating athletes and the communities that rally around them. But just as important as the game itself are the students who dedicate hours to perfecting routines, practicing sets, and bringing life to the sidelines and halftime stage. The Halftime Highlight aims to showcase that passion, one school at a time.

Partnership with DJ Pat Sweeney

The idea sparked during a conversation with local wedding and event favorite, DJ Pat Sweeney, who wanted to find a unique way to team up with SportzWire. After some great back-and-forth, the concept came alive: highlight the scenes of Friday nights that often get overlooked, but make the game-day atmosphere unforgettable.

“School spirit is the heartbeat of Friday nights,” Sweeney shared. “These students deserve recognition for the energy and excitement they bring week in and week out. I’m excited to help shine that spotlight.”

Bringing School Spirit to Life

From halftime shows to choreographed cheer routines, to color guards marching in sync, the dedication of these groups is no different than what’s happening on the field. Now, thanks to SportzWire and DJ Pat Sweeney, fans and families will see that effort captured, shared, and celebrated across our platforms.

The inaugural Week 5 Halftime Highlight featured the Old Forge Blue Devils, who packed a full dose of spirit into their show: Miss Devilette electrified the crowd, seventh-grader Bennett Cavanagh wowed with a stirring anthem performance on electric guitar, and the band and cheer squad dressed in green and white to support Mental Health Awareness during their John Malvizzi Foundation Awareness Event on Friday night.

It was the perfect kickoff to a feature designed to turn school spirit into the headline.

What’s Next?

Each week throughout the rest of the season, SportzWire will highlight a different school community, giving the spotlight to the students who make Friday nights shine.

Stay tuned to see if your school is next to be featured in the Halftime Highlight presented by DJ Pat Sweeney.
