THROOP — The Friday Night Rivals spotlight was on Mid Valley in Week 3, and the Spartans delivered a performance worthy of prime time. Hosting Old Forge in a matchup of two 0-2 teams hungry for their first win, Mid Valley lit up the scoreboard and the night sky, rolling to a 42-0 victory in front of a rocking home crowd.

The broadcast gave viewers a look at the Spartans’ top-notch facilities, but the real show was in person. Each time Mid Valley found the end zone, the stadium erupted with a dazzling light show that mirrored the Spartans’ explosive play on the field.

Quarterback Brett Yanoski put on a clinic, tossing three touchdown passes and racking up 143 yards through the air. He connected twice with Nick Pinto for scores of 7 and 14 yards in the first quarter and later added an 18-yard strike to Rhys Williams in the fourth. Yanoski’s precision opened the offense and kept the Devils’ defense on its heels all night.

On the ground, Mason Vinansky powered the Spartans with 164 yards rushing and two touchdowns, including a 37-yard burst in the opening frame and a short score in the third. Kayden Barnauskas capped the effort with a 6-yard run late in the fourth to seal the shutout.

While Old Forge moved the ball through the air (146 yards), the Blue Devils could never establish balance. The Spartans’ front seven stifled the run, holding Old Forge to -46 yards on the ground, forcing two interceptions, and never allowing a serious scoring threat.

The win moves Mid Valley to 1-2, building momentum heading into a Week 4 clash with Honesdale. Old Forge, now 0-3, will look to regroup against Hanover.
