Throop, PA -- The bats were booming at Spartans Stadium on Monday as Mid Valley cruised to a 15–5 win over Montrose, despite a grand slam from Hudson Aukema that had the Meteors riding a third-inning high.
The Spartans wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, putting up four runs in the first and then cracking it wide open in the second with six more, including a rocket shot from Carter Musewicz and a loud triple from Doug Pua.
Montrose fired back in the third when Aukema went full send with a grand slam to center, briefly cutting into the gap. But Mid Valley answered right back, staying locked in at the plate and racking up runs like it was a team mission.
Musewicz did it all—4 RBIs and 3 innings on the bump, while Brett Yanoski and Lorenzo Hernandez kept the hits coming with multi-hit days. Defensively, Nick Mills locked it down with 9 plays and a clean sheet for the squad.
Montrose got a spark from leadoff man Adam Sorensen with a 2-for-3 day and Aukema’s 4-RBI bomb, but the Spartans’ early momentum proved too much to overcome.
