South Williamsport earned a 10–0 shutout victory over Holy Redeemer on Monday in a PIAA Class 2A playoff game. The Mountaineers collected 14 hits and scored in five separate innings, ending the game in seven innings.
Senior pitcher Alizabeth Schuler led South Williamsport with a complete game shutout. Schuler allowed 8 hits, struck out 11, and walked 2 over 7 innings. At the plate, she went 4-for-5 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs.
Senior Gianna Goodman added a home run, a double, and 4 RBIs. Junior Mikiaya Hills contributed 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and drove in 2 runs. Junior Maddie Pinkerton was 3-for-3 and scored 3 times.
Other Mountaineers with hits included Kendall Cardone, Lily Reidy, and Abigail Lorson.
Holy Redeemer recorded 8 hits but was held scoreless. Junior Mary Lombardi went 3-for-4 to lead the Royals. Seniors Lauren Hayden and Abby Williams, junior Katie Genovese, and underclassmen Grace Stetz-Madden and Adelynn Brill each added one hit.
Senior Anne Carter pitched all 7 innings for Holy Redeemer, allowing 10 runs (9 earned) on 14 hits, striking out 3 and walking 5.
South Williamsport opened the scoring with 4 runs in the first inning and steadily extended the lead to close out the game in seven innings.
