SCRANTON – Scranton Prep wasted no time setting the tone in the District 2 Class 4A semifinals, erupting for a 24-point first quarter on their way to a dominant 66-32 win over Wyoming Area.
The Cavaliers’ relentless pressure and efficient offense propelled them into the district championship, where they will face Valley View at Mohegan Sun Arena next Saturday at 4 PM, while also securing a berth in the 4A state playoffs.
Packy Doherty led the way for Scranton Prep, dropping 19 points, including two three-pointers, while Brycen Martin added 13 points, going 5-for-6 from the free throw line. The Cavaliers displayed their perimeter prowess, knocking down five three-pointers, outpacing Wyoming Area’s lone make from deep.
Wyoming Area struggled against Prep’s stifling defense, managing just four first-quarter points and never finding their rhythm offensively. Lukas Burakiewicz fought hard for the Warriors, finishing with 12 points, while Luke Kopetchny added 10.
The Cavaliers will look to carry their momentum into the district championship at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday at 4 PM, while Wyoming Area’s hopes for a title run came to an end.
