COVINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Scranton Prep Cavaliers secured a commanding 76-45 victory over North Pocono in a Lackawanna Division I basketball matchup on Monday, January 6, 2025.

The Cavaliers (4-5, 2-1) wasted no time setting the tone, delivering a dominant first-quarter performance with 23 points, fueled by five successful 3-pointers. Brycen Martin led the charge early, knocking down three of those 3-pointers on his way to scoring 11 points in the opening period. Teammate Packy Doherty added six points in the quarter, while Brody Martin and Christopher Ramey each contributed a 3-pointer to give Scranton Prep a commanding 23-11 lead after one.

Scranton Prep continued to build on their early success, outscoring North Pocono 18-14 in the second quarter. Martin remained hot from the field, while the Cavaliers’ defensive pressure kept the Trojans struggling to find offensive rhythm. At halftime, Scranton Prep held a solid 41-25 advantage.

The third quarter proved to be the defining stretch, as the Cavaliers extended their lead with a relentless offensive surge. Doherty exploded for 15 points in the period, including multiple baskets from beyond the arc. His scoring spree helped Scranton Prep post a 25-point quarter while holding North Pocono to just 12 points. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers led 66-37 and had effectively secured the game.

Though the scoring slowed in the final quarter, Scranton Prep’s reserves maintained control, closing out the game with a 10-8 edge to seal the 76-45 victory.
