SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA — The Hurricanes rode a strong offensive showing and a steady scoring effort to a 9-5 victory over Nativity BVM on Wednesday in high school baseball action.
#11 Schuylkill Haven (record not provided) collected 12 hits on the day and took control early, scoring in five different innings. The Hurricanes opened the game with a run in the bottom of the first, then widened the lead with three runs in the third and another three in the fifth. They tacked on single runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to cap off their performance.
Nativity BVM (record not provided) kept it competitive with seven hits and pushed across runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings. The Green Wave added a two-run rally in the seventh, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Defensively, Nativity struggled at times, committing three errors in the field, while Schuylkill Haven played a cleaner game with just one miscue.
The Hurricanes’ balanced attack and timely hitting proved to be the difference, as they rolled to a solid league win over their local rival.
