PECKVILLE, PA. – On Saturday, July 12, the community will come together once again in honor of a remarkable life and a meaningful cause. The Michael “Chippi” Cawley Memorial 5K Run & 2 Mile Walk for Epilepsy will take place at the Blakely Borough Recreational Complex in Peckville, with race-day festivities kicking off at 9 a.m.
This heartfelt event celebrates the vibrant life and legacy of Michael “Chip” Cawley, a Valley View and Marywood University graduate who passed away unexpectedly from a grand mal seizure in February 2023 after a recent epilepsy diagnosis.
Michael’s story is one of passion, curiosity, and compassion. Known for his adventurous spirit—whether he was fishing, hiking, snowboarding, or riding his quad—Michael lived life with both intensity and kindness. A standout athlete at Valley View, he wrestled and played soccer, later channeling his drive into academics, earning a degree in Biology. Michael was also a dedicated kickboxer and an animal lover who had a special place in his heart for his boxer dogs.
While his life was tragically cut short, his impact continues to grow. The memorial race bearing his name raises funds to support a number of causes dear to Michael and his family, including:
