Northwest — May 2, 2025
The Northwest girls softball team delivered a dominant performance Thursday evening, shutting out Wyalusing 8-0 in a decisive home win. Powered by a strong offense and a lights-out performance on the mound, Northwest took control early and never looked back.
The tone was set in the first inning when Ava Ruckle launched a solo home run to give Northwest an early 1-0 lead. The momentum carried into the third inning, where Ruckle and Addisyn Diltz both crossed the plate on a two-RBI double from Jenna Robaczewski, widening the lead to 3-0.
Northwest’s offense exploded again in the fourth inning, piling on five more runs. Ashlynn Hermanofski, Natalia Ninotti, Ava Ruckle, Jordin Bowman, and Emily Davis all contributed to the scoring surge, putting the game well out of reach for Wyalusing.
Robaczewski not only shined at the plate but also dominated in the circle. The winning pitcher threw a complete-game shutout, striking out nine and allowing only five hits across seven innings. Northwest’s defense remained sharp throughout the game, keeping Wyalusing off the scoreboard despite a few base runners.
Northwest racked up 13 hits on the day, with contributions up and down the lineup. Wyalusing, meanwhile, struggled to generate offense and was hampered by a few fielding errors that extended innings and allowed Northwest to capitalize.
With this win, Northwest continues to build momentum late in the season, showing strength on both sides of the ball. For Wyalusing, the focus will shift to regrouping and tightening up defensively as they look to bounce back in their next outing.
