Unanimously voted No. 1 in the coaches poll, Riverside has more than justified its spot at the top of the boys basketball rankings. The Vikings are off to a perfect start and have consistently imposed their will against quality competition. Through seven games, Riverside is winning by nearly 27 points per game, including impressive victories over traditionally strong programs like Wilkes-Barre Area (62–48) and Holy Cross (64–46).
Offensively, Riverside has been led by Nico Antoniacci, who has emerged as one of the area’s most prolific scorers with 238 points and 30 three-pointers already this season. Brayden Rose has provided a steady inside and transition presence with 91 points, while Kyle Connor has added perimeter shooting and leadership, knocking down 11 threes. The Vikings’ balanced scoring attack has made them difficult to defend, as opponents can’t afford to focus on just one option.
What truly separates Riverside is its consistency on both ends of the floor. Wins over Wilkes-Barre Area, Holy Cross, Scranton, and Penncrest have all come by double digits, reinforcing the idea that this group is built to handle tough matchups. With confidence growing and momentum firmly on their side, Riverside hasn’t just earned the No. 1 ranking, they’ve made it clear they intend to hold onto it.
