TAYLOR, PA -- Riverside made a statement in the opening round of the PIAA 3A Boys State Tournament, cruising past Southern Columbia 77-54 at home. A dominant start and efficient three-point shooting propelled the Vikings to victory, setting the tone for a potential postseason run.

The Vikings jumped out to a commanding 21-9 lead after the first quarter and maintained control throughout, fueled by Nico Antoniacci’s standout 23-point performance, including three three-pointers. Gerry Rose added 18 points, helping Riverside pile up nine total triples in the game. The team also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 14-of-21 attempts. A 20-point third quarter sealed the deal, extending their lead beyond reach.

Southern Columbia fought hard behind Will Swank’s team-high 17 points, including three makes from beyond the arc, while Nate Gallagher chipped in 13. However, the Tigers struggled to keep pace with Riverside’s offensive rhythm.

With a balanced attack and strong outside shooting, Riverside advances to the next round, where they will face Overbrook.
