Bethlehem, PA – Riverside wasted no time asserting dominance in Round 2 of the PIAA 3A Boys State Tournament, rolling past Overbrook 66-44 at Bethlehem Liberty High School. The Vikings’ balanced attack and defensive intensity proved too much for Overbrook, setting up a highly anticipated quarterfinal matchup against District 12’s top seed, West Catholic.
Nico Antoniacci stole the show, pouring in 28 points and leading the charge for Riverside. He knocked down three 3-pointers and showcased his ability to finish inside, controlling the game from start to finish. Brayden Rose (10 points) and Gerry Rose (14 points, six free throws made) also provided key contributions as Riverside methodically built its lead.
On the other side, Overbrook’s Kalief Armstrong did his best to keep his team in it, draining six 3-pointers on his way to an 18-point performance. Overbrook actually outshot Riverside from deep, connecting on eight 3-pointers to Riverside’s four, but Riverside’s dominance inside and at the free-throw line (14 makes to Overbrook’s 2) made the difference.
With the win, Riverside (25-2) advances to the state quarterfinals, where they’ll take on a battle-tested West Catholic squad. The Vikings have momentum, but the next test will be their toughest yet.
