Riverside Rallies Past West Scranton, 39–32

Riverside used a strong middle stretch and a second-half surge from Mikayla Smith to earn a 39–32 girls’ basketball victory over West Scranton.

After being held scoreless in the opening quarter, Smith caught fire in the second. She scored 10 points in the period to help Riverside build momentum and finished the night with a game-high 22 points. Smith continued her strong play after halftime, adding 12 points in the second half to seal the win.

Faith Pavalonis provided an early spark for Riverside, scoring eight points in the first quarter. She ended the game with 14 points and was perfect from the free-throw line, going 6-for-6. Riverside took a 20–15 lead into halftime and maintained control down the stretch with steady defense and timely scoring.

West Scranton relied on balanced offense, spreading points across several players. Morgan Baungardner led the Lady Invaders with nine points, while Caylyn Manley added seven and Kaitlyn Stynes chipped in six. Mia Tallo and Aubrey Kerrigan each finished with five points.

Despite West Scranton’s balanced attack, Riverside’s second-quarter turnaround and strong free-throw shooting proved to be the difference as Riverside closed out the seven-point victory.
