It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Coach Tommy Selemba, beloved President of the West Scranton Jr. Invaders.
Coach Tommy wasn’t just a fixture on the sidelines—he was the heartbeat of the Jr Invaders community, a tireless champion for the youth, and a true embodiment of what it means to lead with passion.
For Tommy, football was never just a game—it was a vehicle for growth, connection, and lifelong impact. Every child who wore a jersey under his leadership wasn’t just a player; they were family. He poured his heart into every practice, every game, and every moment spent building not just athletes, but confident, compassionate young people.
His mission was clear: to ensure every child had the opportunity to feel seen, supported, and part of something greater. His voice was often the loudest cheering from the sidelines, his presence the most constant and comforting. Whether it was helping a player through a tough moment or celebrating a small victory, Coach Tommy was always there—with a big heart, a kind word, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child.
Beyond the field, Tommy also served for many years as the statistician for the All County Conference Junior Football League, dedicating his time and precision to preserving the stories and accomplishments of countless young athletes. His commitment to the game extended far beyond coaching—he was a steward of its history and a pillar of its future.
