DUNMORE — Friday night football opened with a heavyweight fight at Dunmore Stadium, where Riverside stunned the Bucks 17-14 in overtime. A packed house witnessed momentum swings, highlight runs, and the kind of redemption arc that only rivalry football can deliver.

Dunmore struck first behind Jackson Harding’s bruising 3-yard touchdown, but the roar of the home crowd didn’t last long. Just seconds later, Riverside’s Brayden Rose in as returner due to their primary return man, Barnett, out with an injury but fielded the kickoff and blazed 90 yards the other way, stunning the stadium into silence. Coach Harry Armstrong said afterward, “he wasn’t even supposed to be back there,” but Rose turned the unexpected chance into the night’s first game-changing play.

The second quarter was a highlight reel on repeat. Dunmore’s Weston Yannone spun through tacklers and lunged into the end zone for a dazzling 32-yard score. But Riverside answered when Jarrett Jackson ripped off a 46-yard touchdown run, sending the teams into halftime knotted at 14.

The second half was a war of attrition. Heat, cramps, and opening-night fatigue slowed both sides, setting the stage for late drama. With 13 seconds left, Riverside kicker Santino D’Amico had the game on his foot but pushed it left, forcing overtime.

That’s where the rivalry flipped. A Dunmore fumble at the goal line, stripped by Max Jackson, set up D’Amico’s shot at redemption and the senior delivered. His 21-yard field goal split the uprights, giving Riverside a walk-off win on enemy turf.
