Records Fall and Stars Shine at Les Richards Swimming Championships

Scranton, PA -- The Les Richards Swimming Championships saw a weekend full of high-energy competition, with several teams and individuals rising to the occasion to leave their mark.

Scranton Prep reaffirmed its dominance in the relays, winning the 200 Medley Relay (1:55.07) and 400 Free Relay (3:46.76). Rebecca Oakes spearheaded their success, claiming victories in the 50 Free (24.75) and 100 Fly (59.47), showcasing her versatility and elite speed. Teammates Eva Kaszuba and Ella Schofield also played pivotal roles in both individual events and relays, further solidifying Scranton Prep's powerhouse status.

Meanwhile, Elk Lake made history by rewriting its record books. The 200 Free Relay team of Brynn Warriner, Hannah Howell, Chelsea Grosvenor, and Allison Grosvenor took gold in a school-record time of 1:43.71. Not stopping there, the same quartet shattered another school record in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:47.05, narrowly missing first place. Warriner continued her stellar meet with an individual victory and a school record in the 100 Free (55.68), cementing her position as a rising star.

For the boys, Tunkhannock stole the spotlight with a record-breaking performance in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Josh Gaudet, Jaden Baltrusaitis, Aidan Mislevy, and Kyle Kozloski clocked a blazing 1:28.87, breaking a meet and pool record that had stood since 2009. Baltrusaitis and Mislevy also shined in individual events, dominating the 100 Free and 50 Free, respectively.

Individual accolades extended to Lukas Iannone (Scranton Prep), who claimed gold in the 200 IM (1:58.03), and Jason Casper (Abington Heights), who captured the 100 Fly title with an impressive 51.87. On the distance side, Leo Cholish (Holy Cross) won the 500 Free in 5:13.80, showing his endurance and consistency.

The Les Richards Swimming Championships proved to be an unforgettable meet, filled with record-breaking moments and exceptional performances from teams and individuals alike.
