YATESVILLE — The lights were bright, the stands were packed, and the fireworks above Charley Trippi Stadium told the story, history was made in Pittston.
On a night celebrating the Patriots’ seniors, Lucas LoPresto and the Pittston Area Patriots turned their final home game of the regular season into a statement of dominance, blasting past Hazleton Area 49–13 to capture the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 Championship and complete an unbeaten run through divisional play.
LoPresto’s Record-Breaking Night
Under the bright lights and in front of a roaring home crowd, LoPresto delivered a performance that will live forever in the Pittston Area record books.
The junior wideout entered the night on the verge of three career milestones and by the end of Senior Night, he held them all.
Early in the first quarter, LoPresto snagged his 99th career catch, setting a new school record for receptions once held by Kevin Krawczyk.
Later in the game, he found the end zone for his 19th career touchdown, breaking the Patriots’ all-time TD record.
And late in the second half, a 36-yard grab followed by a 10-yard reception pushed him past 1,650 receiving yards, making him Pittston’s all-time leader in receiving yardage, a record held by Andrew Krawczyk, class of '20.
He finished the night with 11 catches for 114 yards, officially rewriting the record book.
LoPresto offered heartfelt appreciation to his teammates and coaches, saying he loves going to work with them every day and couldn’t imagine reaching these moments without his "boys."
A Championship Two Decades in the Making
It wasn’t just about individual greatness it was a team coronation two decades in the making.
The Patriots completed a 5–0 sweep through WVC Division 1, marking their first top-division title in over 20 years and improving to 7–1 overall under first-year head coach Paul Russick.
Quarterback Paulie Ferentino was locked in, going 13-for-17 for 152 yards and a touchdown.
Senior backs Brody Spindler, Aidan Brody, and Jaylen Hart each scored on the ground, while freshman Kayden Bailey capped the night with an 85-yard touchdown sprint that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
Senior Night Celebration
When the final horn sounded, the field turned into a celebration zone.
Players hoisted a game ball, chest bumped the coaching staff, handed out Division 1 Champions shirts, and took photos with a custom milestone poster of LoPresto’s accomplishments, created by SportzWire and gifted to the Pittston Area Booster Club as part of the recognition ceremony.
Then came the fireworks, literally. The night sky erupted as fans, families, and players celebrated a long-awaited championship moment for a senior class that helped restore pride and tradition to Pittston football.
