Rachel Shook, a Lake-Lehman alumna and senior standout on the Misericordia University women’s lacrosse team, has built an impressive legacy both on the field and in the classroom. A two-year team captain and record-breaker, Rachel has become a legend of the program while pursuing a degree in History with a focus on Secondary Education.

Her junior season was a historic one. Rachel shattered two school records. The first of most draw controls in a single game (15) and most draw controls per game (7.5). She also holds the school record for most career draw controls (421) surpassing the previous mark of 310. These achievements didn’t happen overnight, they are a result of years of dedication and growth.

Her college journey hasn’t always been smooth. As a freshman, Rachel found herself in and out of the lineup, struggling mentally with the uncertainty of her role. But by the fourth game of the season, she earned a starting position and never looked back.

Rachel’s inspiration comes from close to home. Her father, who continuously pushed her to challenge herself and instilled a deep sense of confidence in her. She also credits Matt Flanagan for his role in her offseason preparation and mental toughness, especially during the critical transition from high school to college-level play.

Off the field, Rachel excels with a 3.87 GPA and consistent placement on the Dean’s List. Post-graduation, she plans to become a certified history teacher. She also intends to stay deeply involved in the sport she loves, coaching lacrosse at both the high school and collegiate level. Her final goal is to grow the recognition and respect for lacrosse in her home region and beyond.
