In an electrifying battle for mountain supremacy, the Pocono Mountain West Panthers emerged victorious over the Pocono Mountain East Cardinals, defeating their rivals 68-58 on Tuesday night at Pocono Mountain East. The highly anticipated matchup between East and West showcased intense action and standout performances as both teams vied for the "King of the Mountain" title.
The Panthers set the tone early, jumping out to a 19-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, powered by senior Adrian Brito’s offensive explosion. Brito finished the game with a dominant 22 points, while KJ Coles led the way with a stellar 19-point performance, making key plays on both ends of the floor. Brady Behr also added 10 points to the Panthers' balanced attack.
For Pocono Mountain East, Rayshawn Harris led the charge with a game-high 14 points, providing a spark on both ends of the court. Teammate Aiden Pierre added 12 pts while Stephon Bethea chipped in with 11 points, but East struggled to keep up with West’s efficient scoring and transition play.
The game remained close throughout the first half, with West holding a narrow 31-24 lead at halftime. East mounted a strong third-quarter rally, cutting the deficit to three points at one point, but West’s defensive adjustments and clutch free throws in the fourth quarter allowed them to pull away for the W.
With the win, the Panthers secured their spot atop the rivalry and will look to maintain momentum as they take on Dieruff on Friday night.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals, despite the loss, displayed resilience and determination, promising an exciting rematch later in the season. January 30th can't come soon enough for this epic showdown.
