At Pocono Mountain East, the Cardinals kept their hot start alive with a dominant 45-0 shutout over the visiting Scranton Knights. The win marked East’s third straight to open the season and a second consecutive victory against a Lackawanna Football Conference opponent, flipping the script on last year’s lopsided loss to Scranton.
East wasted no time taking control in the rain-soaked first half. Justin Williams found the end zone twice, once on a sweep and later on a long strike from quarterback C.J. Serfass, while Amari Green broke free for scoring runs of 86 and 18 yards. Kicker Lucas Angst added a 36-yard field goal before halftime to stretch the lead to 31-0.
The Cardinals put the game into mercy-rule territory early in the third when Serfass connected with tight end Connor Triano for another touchdown, then Triano added a short-yardage score to cap the night. Scranton’s offense, led by quarterback Brody Coyle, was limited to just 29 passing yards as the Knights struggled to find any rhythm.
Pocono Mountain East (3-0) will look to keep rolling next week when they host Allentown Central Catholic, while Scranton turns its attention to the city rivalry Bell Game against West Scranton.
