Silvio Giardina closed out his decorated career at Pittston Area by being named The Citizens’ Voice Male Athlete of the Year, an honor earned through years of consistent excellence in both basketball and baseball.
A standout on the hardwood and the diamond, Giardina left his mark in both sports.
Scored 413 points as a senior
Averaged 16.5 points per game
Knocked down a team-best 64 three-pointers
Led the team with 107 free throw attempts
Key contributor since freshman year, moving from sixth man to starting lineup by sophomore year
Returned from an injury his junior season to help Pittston Area win 5 of its final 6 games

Made six appearances on the mound, starting five games

Giardina was a true leader for both teams—setting the tone with his performance, work ethic, and communication. His ability to lead by example made him one of the most respected athletes in the region.
Giardina will continue his academic and athletic career at Lehigh University, where he is committed to playing Division I baseball.
