Pittston Area Stuns Dallas in Overtime, 36-35, Ending 13-Year Drought

DALLAS TWP. — Pittston Area defeated Dallas for the first time since 2013, earning a dramatic 36-35 overtime victory on Friday night in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 play.


Running back Brody Spindler led the way with 33 carries for 196 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime after tying the game late in regulation.


Lucas LoPresto added a rushing touchdown, threw for a score on a double pass, and returned an interception for a touchdown.


Dallas was powered by quarterback Talan Geskey, who threw three touchdown passes to Tyce Mason, and also scored on a one-yard run in overtime. Sam Kelley added a punt return touchdown for the Mountaineers.


The Patriots finished with 372 total yards (315 rushing, 57 passing) and 18 first downs. Dallas totaled 282 yards (200 rushing, 82 passing) and 16 first downs.


The Mountaineers took a halftime lead before Pittston Area rallied, tying the game in the fourth quarter. In overtime, Dallas scored first to go up 35-28, but Pittston Area answered with Spindler’s touchdown run and the deciding two-point attempt to secure the win.


The result ended Dallas’s 12-game division winning streak and marked a breakthrough for Pittston Area, which improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Division 1. Dallas dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the division.
