PITTSTON, PA -- The Pittston Area Patriots are making noise in District 2 early this season—and Thursday’s 11-3 rout of Old Forge only added to the buzz. With another well-rounded performance, the Patriots improved to 4-0 and continued to look like one of the toughest teams in the region.

Old Forge struck first in the opening frame on an RBI groundout by Luke Olivieri, but Pittston wasted no time flipping the script. In the bottom of the second, Chase Montigney ripped a two-run triple, and Richard Tonte followed with an RBI single to give the Patriots a 3-1 lead.

The offense kept rolling in the third, with Tonte coming through again—this time with a two-run double that stretched the lead to 6-1. Pittston blew the game wide open in the sixth, stringing together four hits and capitalizing on two Old Forge errors to push across five more runs.

On the mound, TJ Johnson turned in a strong start, tossing four innings of three-hit ball while striking out six to earn the win. Brady Baldrica came in to lock it down and picked up the save, with Jacoby Harnen also seeing time in relief.

Tonte had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Jake Aftewicz led all hitters with a 3-for-4 performance, including a double and an RBI.

For Old Forge, Angelo DiMauro and Frank Pero each tallied two hits, with Pero and Olivieri driving in runs. TJ DiMattia also doubled for the Blue Devils, who turned a clean double play in the field.

With a balanced offense and reliable arms on the mound, Pittston Area is showing all the signs of a team ready to contend. The Patriots return home Tuesday to take on Crestwood as they look to keep their perfect season alive.
