Cole Phillips dominated on both sides of the ball Wednesday, leading Berwick to a 5-0 win over Nanticoke.
Berwick got on the board early with an RBI single from Gabe Decker in the bottom of the first. In the third, Phillips extended the lead with a two-run single, followed by an RBI double from Brady McCabe to make it 4-0. Berwick added one more in the fourth to round out the scoring.
Phillips earned the complete game win, allowing just three hits and no runs over seven innings. He struck out six and walked one while also going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Luke Sult also had a strong performance, collecting two hits.
Berwick finished with nine hits in total. Jacob Lisnock, Decker, and McCabe each added one hit, while the defense turned a double play to support Phillips on the mound.
Nanticoke managed three singles, one each from Ethan Ball, Serafino Raggi, and Joey Stout. Derek Miller started and pitched six innings, allowing five runs—four earned—on nine hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Berwick will face Hazleton Area in their next game on Friday.
