CLARKS SUMMIT, PA -- A 10-run fourth inning was the spark District 32 needed as Valley View broke open a close game and stormed into the winner’s bracket final. Perry went 3-for-3, and Valley View played clean baseball to remain unbeaten in sectional play.

Perry led the offensive charge with three hits and an RBI, while Tyler Smolko, Wyatt Hanicak, and Liam Farrell each drove in two runs. Farrell’s two-run double and Smolko’s two-run single highlighted the fourth-inning surge, where Valley View sent 13 batters to the plate.

Tyler Eremo pitched 2.1 solid innings to start the game, allowing just one hit and two runs. Anthony Lantka closed the door with 1.1 shutout frames, striking out two and not allowing a hit.

Matty Sotak added two hits in two at-bats, while Valley View stole 12 bases and played error-free defense. Perry had a game-high six fielding chances.

Greater Wyoming Area hung tough early, briefly taking a 2-1 lead in the second with a two-run steal of home. Francisco Ramiza, Dominic Giordano, Bryan Pikas, and Franco Cacchioni each recorded a hit. Cacchioni also had the team’s lone RBI, and GWA kept things aggressive on the basepaths with seven total steals.

With the win, Valley View advances to face Greater Pittston Area on Sunday in the winner’s bracket final. GWA drops to the elimination bracket and will meet Abington in a must-win game to keep their tournament hopes alive.
