The Palisades Pirates rode a strong offensive showing to a 9-5 win over Lehighton in high school baseball action on Wednesday. Behind 13 hits and a steady scoring pace, the Pirates built a lead early and held off a late push from the Indians to secure the victory.
Palisades wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second to take an early 4-1 lead. After tacking on a run in the fifth, the Pirates broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning to stretch the advantage to 9-2.
Lehighton mounted a late rally in the seventh, plating three runs, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. The Indians finished with eight hits and committed two errors, matching Palisades’ defensive miscues.
Senior standout John Light led the way for Lehighton, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Fellow senior Derek Behler chipped in with a 3-hit day, including a triple, a run scored, and three RBIs to help fuel the late surge.
For the Pirates, Jack Trickel had a monster day at the plate with four hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Anderson Hsu added three hits, one run, and two RBIs, while Mason Schultz delivered two hits—including a double—one run scored, and a team-high three RBIs. Greg Borgeson also contributed with two hits and an RBI.
Schultz handled business on the mound as well, pitching six strong innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win.
With the victory, Palisades showcased both depth and consistency at the plate, as well as a solid performance on the mound to fend off a resilient Lehighton squad.
