From Penn State’s Dominic DeLuca taking the plunge to local teams like NEPA Builders and Marywood Soccer braving the cold, the event showcased the power of community. Most importantly, the smiles of the Special Olympics athletes reminded everyone why it’s all worth it: fostering inclusion, teamwork, and joy. The Montrose Lady Meteors defeated Forest City 37-28 in a Division III matchup during Coaches vs. Cancer week, raising $1,107 through rebound pledges. Sadie Jones led Montrose with 21 points, while Marlo Urbas scored 11 for Forest City. Montrose controlled the game early and maintained their lead with strong defense. The week-long campaign will continue with more events, uniting the community to support cancer awareness and research for Coaches vs Cancer games.

It’s near and dear to all of our hearts.” The event not only raised awareness but also funds for the American Cancer Society, aiming to surpass last year’s total. On the court, Ella Stambaugh led Wyoming Seminary to a 50–43 victory with 28 points, while Tunkhannock’s Erin Van Ness showcased her leadership, scoring 22 points for the Lady Tigers. The Lady Knights built a 30-19 halftime lead, but North Pocono stormed back, narrowing the deficit to three points in the final minute. Scranton sealed the win with a late free throw, completing a season sweep over the Lady Trojans. Balanced scoring proved crucial for Scranton, with contributions from Jaelyn Akers (9 points), Chrissy Jacklinski (8 points), and Catherine Hill (6 points). North Pocono’s offense was paced by Julia Biko’s 12 points and Anna Clementoni’s 11. Despite a valiant comeback effort, the Lady Trojans fell short, dropping to 8-7 on the season.
