On the Road Back to the Arena, Redeemer Handles Lake-Lehman

WILKES-BARRE — Holy Redeemer continues to build momentum as the season unfolds, earning a solid 52–40 victory over Lake-Lehman on Monday night. Against a strong and disciplined Lake-Lehman team, the Royals showed balance on both ends of the floor, pulling away in the second half to secure another important conference win.
The game stayed close through the opening two quarters before Redeemer found separation coming out of halftime. A decisive 16–8 third quarter shifted control firmly in the Royals’ favor, as defensive stops led to efficient offensive possessions and limited Lake-Lehman’s ability to respond.
Offensively, McKenzie Chimock paced Redeemer with 17 points, providing a steady presence throughout the night. Kourtney Jeziorski finished with 10 points, while Liz Bilbow and Kira Millard added eight apiece, giving the Royals consistent production from multiple spots in the lineup.
Defensively, Redeemer was sharp and organized, particularly on the perimeter. Senior guard Tessa Cegelka took on the challenge of guarding Lake-Lehman standout Kinley Purdy, helping keep the pace controlled and forcing tough possessions. While the defensive effort was collective, that matchup played a role in maintaining Redeemer’s composure during key stretches.
Lake-Lehman was led by Kinley Purdy and Kathryn Morgan, who each scored nine points, but sustained scoring proved difficult as Redeemer tightened up defensively after halftime.
Now sitting at 8–1 overall, Holy Redeemer continues to look like a team moving in the right direction. With last season’s district championship loss to Dunmore still in mind, the Royals are steadily positioning themselves for another push back to the arena. Wins like this — poised, balanced, and controlled — reflect a group gaining confidence as the stakes continue to rise.
