Center Valley, PA — May 27, 2025 — The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders left no doubt at DeSales University on Tuesday afternoon, delivering a commanding 13-3 victory over the Palmerton Blue Bombers to claim the District XI 3A Championship.
The Crusaders’ offense exploded with 14 hits, highlighted by a seven-run second inning and a five-run third that quickly put the game out of reach. Palmerton struggled both at the plate and in the field, managing just four hits and committing five costly errors, more than their run total.
Palmerton managed a run in each of the first three innings, showing early signs of consistency. But their momentum quickly faded under the pressure of Notre Dame-Green Pond’s relentless bats and solid defense. The Crusaders committed just two errors and kept Palmerton off the board the rest of the way, adding a final run in the sixth to cap the mercy-rule victory.
Leading the offensive charge was Paul Smith, who had three hits and two RBIs, while Austin Casal delivered a standout four-RBI performance on two hits. Casal also crossed the plate twice. Colin Pevorus, Christian Rivituso, Michael Wachter, and Casal each scored two runs. Pevorus, Wachter, Frederick, and Casal all notched two hits apiece, while Rivituso, Albert, and Martino each added one.
On the mound, Michael Martino was dominant, pitching all six innings and racking up six strikeouts, holding the Blue Bombers to just three runs and earning the win on the hill.
The win marks another milestone for Notre Dame-Green Pond, who combined explosive offense with solid defense and pitching to secure the District XI 3A crown. As they look ahead to the state playoffs, the Crusaders will carry momentum — and confidence — into their next matchup.
