For a matter of seconds on Thursday night, Northern Lehigh held the lead in the annual Mountain Road Rumble. But the ensuing kickoff changed everything.

After the Bulldogs punched in a 1-yard score to move ahead 7-6 late in the first quarter, Northwestern’s Brady Zimmerman answered instantly with a 90-yard return to put the Tigers back in front. From there, the defending state champions never looked back, unleashing 28 straight points to seize control and cruising to a 56-13 road victory.

Braxton Lakatosh powered the ground game with 123 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while sophomore Chase Sukanick cashed in on turnovers with touchdown runs of 33 and 42 yards. Senior linebacker Mason Bollinger was a force on both sides—scoring the night’s opening touchdown and later stunning the crowd with a 100-yard interception return just before halftime.

Northern Lehigh quarterback Garrett Smoyer threw for 146 yards and a touchdown, but the Bulldogs couldn’t keep pace with the Tigers’ all-around surge.

With the win, Northwestern Lehigh extended its winning streak to 18 games and improved to 2-0. The Tigers host Bangor next Thursday, while Northern Lehigh (1-1) welcomes Pen Argyl next Friday.

Final Score:

Northwestern Lehigh 56, Northern Lehigh 13
