North Pocono Extends Lead as Abington Heights Surges in District 2 Big School Rankings

The latest District 2 Big School Top 10 shows clear separation at the top as North Pocono continues to dominate the polls. After holding 49 points last week, the Trojans nearly doubled their total with 94 this week, cementing themselves as the team to beat in the region.

Abington Heights also made a significant leap. The Comets rose from 46 points last week to 82, solidifying the No. 2 spot and closing the gap behind North Pocono. Pittston Area held firm in third place but also saw a major jump in recognition, climbing from 37 points to 72.

Wilkes-Barre Area continues to impress, moving from 34 to 64 points, which kept them at No. 4 in back-to-back weeks. The biggest shift in the middle of the pack came from Valley View and Dallas, who swapped spots. Dallas dropped from fifth to sixth despite gaining points (27 to 40), while Valley View climbed into the top five with 47 points after sitting at 26 last week.

Crestwood and Delaware Valley flip-flopped as well. Crestwood slipped one place to eighth despite increasing from 21 to 33 points, while Delaware Valley improved from 15 to 34 points to claim seventh.

At the back end, Wallenpaupack (12 to 25 points) and Scranton (5 to 13 points) both gained ground but stayed locked in at ninth and tenth place.

The story of the week is the dramatic gap widening at the top, where North Pocono has separated itself from the rest, while Abington Heights, Pittston Area, and Wilkes-Barre Area form a tight chase pack. With several marquee matchups on the horizon, the rankings could see even more shakeups as the season heads deeper into October.
